Yellow nails - we all had our share. In this post I will tell you all about what's causing them, how to prevent them and how to treat them. Yellow nails can be a pain in the ass if you're a french manicure lover like me. If you're always wearing opaque polishes, you probably don't care if your nails are yellow but still, it could be helpful to know what's causing them.

Unghii galbene - toate am avut parte de ele. In aceasta postare o sa-ti spun totul despre ce le cauzeaza, cum sa le previi si cum sa le tratezi. Unghiile galbene pot fi deranjante daca adori manichiura french ca mine. Daca porti tot timpul oje opace, probabil nu-ti pasa daca ai unghiile galbene dar si asa, poate te va ajuta sa stii ce le cauzeaza.

In my previous post (Raluca's Psycho Nails), I asked you what are the white spots we see sometimes on our nails. I can't believe I only got wrong answers :( Has no one read my post about nail anatomy? :(
The most common myth about the white spots is that they signal a calcium deficiency. This is NOT true. Vitamins and minerals deficiencies are not common, whereas these white spots are. And why are they more commonly found on children's nails?

In postarea mea precedenta (Raluca's Psycho Nails), v-am intrebat ce sunt petele albe pe care le vedem cateodata pe unghii. Nu pot sa cred ca am primit numai raspunsuri gresite :( Chiar nimeni nu a citit postarea mea despre anatomia unghiei? :(
Cel mai comun mit despre petele albe este ca semnaleaza o lipsa de calciu. Acest lucru NU este adevarat.
Deficientele de vitamine si minerale nu sunt comune, pe cand aceste pete da. Si de ce sunt mai des intalnite pe unghiile copiilor?

Update on my broken nail!/ Ce s-a mai intamplat cu unghia mea rupta!

You may remember that two months ago, I broke a nail. I repaired it using acrylic and a small piece of a teabag.
Some time after that, I discovered dirt under the patch. I removed the acrylic and replaced it with a few layers of gel polish topcoat together with a new teabag piece. The patch was much chunkier but it held well. 
And yesterday, after two months, the patch came off when I was removing my nail polish and I was super surprised to see my nail come out like new, with a slight peel that was easy to smooth out using a 600 grit file.
All in all, I am super pleased with my experience with nail repairs. Acrylic is a very strong material but I would advise sealing it with a thin coat of normal gel or several coats of gel polish topcoat because these two are less porous.

Poate iti amintesti ca acum doua luni, mi-am rupt o unghie. Am reparat-o folosind acryl si o bucatica de pliculet de ceai.
Ceva timp dupa intamplare, am descoperit murdarie sub pansament. Am indepartat acrylul si l-am inlocuit cu cateva straturi de topcoat semipermanent impreuna cu o noua bucatica de pliculet de ceai. Pansamentul era mult mai grosolan dar a tinut bine.
Si ieri, dupa doua luni, pansamentul s-a dezlipit cand imi indepartam oja si am fost super surprinsa sa-mi vad unghia iesind ca noua, cu o mica ciobitura care a fost usor de netezit cu o pila de granulatie 600. 
In concluzie, sunt super incantata de experienta mea cu reparatii de unghii. Acrylul este un material foarte rezistent dar as recomanda sigilarea lui cu un strat subtire de gel normal sau mai multe straturi de topcoat semipermanent pentru ca acestea doua sunt mai putin poroase.

I'm sure many of you will be interested in this post :) When I first started growing my nails I didn't even know it was possible to save a broken nail. I simply cut all of them and that was it. But times have changed :D

Sunt sigura ca multe dintre voi veti fi interesate de aceasta postare :) Cand am inceput sa-mi cresc unghiile nici nu stiam ca este posibil sa salvezi o unghie rupta. Pur si simplu le taiam pe toate si aia era. Dar vremurile s-au schimbat :D

How to refill your cuticle oil pen/ Cum sa-ti reumpli creionul cu ulei de cuticule

Because I could only find one tutorial on how to do this and it had some problems with the photos, I decided to show you here how to pull apart your empty cuticle oil pen so you can refill it :) I've only tried it with a cheap, Chinese-made cuticle oil pen and I can't guarantee it will work with other types of pens.

Pentru ca nu am gasit decat un tutorial despre cum sa faci acest lucru si acela avea niste probleme cu pozele,  am decis sa-ti arat aici cum sa iti dezmembrezi creionul cu ulei de cuticule dupa ce s-a terminat ca sa il poti reumple :) Am incercat sa fac acest lucru doar cu un creion ieftin, facut in China si nu pot garanta ca va merge si cu alte tipuri de creioane.

Make your nail polish last as long as you want!/ Fa-ti oja sa reziste cat vrei tu!

I like reading product reviews on other blogs. Sometimes, girls call a nail polish "chip-resistant" if it lasts four days (!) What if I told you any nail polish could last for two weeks? :)
It's true, with a bit of help any nail polish can last as long as you want.  Of course there is always the option of using a gel polish (needs to be cured in an UV lamp) but this post is about normal nail polish that air-dries. Gel polish only removes with 100% acetone and using the foil method (explained here) so I don't recommend it too often because acetone dries out your nails.

Imi place sa citesc pe alte bloguri recenzii pentru produse. Cateodata, fetele numesc o oja "rezistenta la ciobire" daca dureaza patru zile (!) Daca ti-as spune ca orice oja poate dura doua saptamani? :)
E adevarat, cu putin ajutor orice oja poate rezista cat vrei tu. Bineinteles, exista si optiunea ojei semipermanente (trebuie uscata in lampa UV) dar aceasta postare este despre oja normala care se usuca la aer. Oja semipermanenta se indeparteaza numai cu acetona 100% si folosind metoda cu folia (explicata aici) asa ca nu o recomand foarte des pentru ca acetona iti usuca rau unghiile.

The ideal nail shape (long and interesting post)/ Forma ideala de unghie (postare lunga si interesanta)

This post is about different nail shapes, the ideal shape for natural nails, how to choose your nail shape based on your finger thickness and nail wideness and how to achieve the desired shape.
I did not include nail shapes that can only be done on false nails (for example the edge or duck feet shapes).
I hate not posting my own photos but there are some shapes for which I didn't have any :(

Aceasta postare este despre diferite forme de unghii, forma ideala pentru unghiile naturale, cum sa-ti alegi forma unghiei in functie de grosimea degetelor si latimea unghiei si cum sa obtii forma dorita.
Nu am inclus forme de unghii posibile doar pe unghii false (de exemplu formele edge sau "duck feet" = laba de rata).
Urasc sa nu postez propriile poze dar sunt cateva forme pentru care nu am avut nici una :(

Before starting doing your manicure it is very important to know a few things on the nail's anatomy.
I always advice not cutting your "cuticles" because they protect the matrix (root) of the nail against germs and bacteria. But thanks to LadyNailz I found out some more interesting stuff on this subject. >This may be a little shocking to you as it was to me when I found out.

Acesta este primul post din categoria "Ingrijirea unghiilor". Sper ca va fi folositor :)
Inainte sa incepi sa-ti faci manichiura este foarte important sa stii cateva lucruri despre anatomia unghiei.
Eu intotdeauna sfatuiesc fetele sa nu-si taie "cuticula" pentru ca protejeaza matricea (radacina) unghiei de microbi si bacterii. Dar datorita lui LadyNailz am aflat mai multe lucruri interesante in legatura cu acest subiect. Aceste lucruri ar putea sa te socheze putin la fel cum m-au socat si pe mine cand am aflat.
